From Michael Moran, executive director of the new Amazing Things Arts Center coming to Saxonville:
Please come see our new venue [to be] – up close and personal! This Saturday January 15 12:00 [noon] 55 Nicholas Rd. in the Pinefield shopping mall.
YES Horn Players with hammers Singers with saws Arts Lovers with expertise…
Please join me and some of the Amazing Board at Famous Dino’s Pizza Next door to the new venue at 12:00 on Saturday to see the space and see where you might help.
It’s going to be a big job making it “just right” and if you can give your help, we could use it.
We especially need help in the “trades”. We have an electrician (Board member Jeffrey Phillips) and we have an architect (Chris Walsh of Framingham and Howard Frutkoff who is our building committee chair). We have an interior designer (Barbara Larson) and lots of understanding of what makes a performance/gallery space work efficiently (yours truly).
We need help in the following areas:
HVAC design and installation (we’re going to need a whole new system)
Plumbing
Wiring
Acoustic design
Flooring
Carpentry
Painting, finishes.
Materials
Finally, we’re going to have to pay to get some of this stuff done. We estimate the buildout to cost about $10,000. We have half of that in the bank but half of that will be going to the rent and security deposit.
If you’ve been waiting to become a member to see what we’re going to do, NOW is the time to help. If you (or your company) could help us with a larger gift well I don’t have to tell you that it’s needed badly.
The Amazing Board and I thank you for your congratulations. Our community is strong and ready. I am ecstatic about the prospect of opening soon (as early as March 1) at the new 90 seat venue (doing our larger events at Framingham Civic League and Wilson Middle School in Natick. - If you have not seen the info about the new venue, take a look at our web site where there is a prominent link for the venue information. http://amazingthings.org
I am sad to leave Natick, but I feel very happy to be landing Framingham and in Saxonville in particular it is a great community with lots of arts already.
